The Lab Research Supervisor 2 manages the PI's research laboratory. Designs new research studies, designs and conducts experiments, teaches new methods, interprets and documents data, and evaluates findings in a variety of specialized research areas. Assists in directing the wok of other SRAs and designs, plans and conducts experiments involving chemical and biological assays, in vitro and in vivo testing of radiopharmaceuticals for both diagnostics and therapeutics, and work with radioactivity, tissues and animals.
-Master's degree in a biological or related science and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
-Experience directly supervising and training employees and indirectly supervising a variety of researchers and collaborators on multiple, concurrent in vitro and vivo studies.
-Previous experience in laboratory management, compliance, documentation, safety management and training.
-Previous experience in managing a wet research laboratory.
-Demonstrated experience in the care, handling, and maintenance of research animals in accordance with NIH and AALAC guidelines. Knowledge of NIH and AALAC guidelines regarding animal use and care; knowledge of University policy and procedures preferred.
-Experience with management and development of animal protocols and SOPs.
-Skills to administer agents to rats and mice by intravenous, intraperitoneal, and intratumoral injection.
-Experience carrying out various surgical and non-surgical procedures on small animals.
-Skills to perform nucleic acid and protein purifications, Western blots, flow cytometry, PCR, cDNA synthesis, microscopy.
-Experience with safe use and handling of biohazardous materials, knowledge of regulatory guidelines (including EH&S, CUPA and OSHA)
-Experience working with chemicals, cells, biological specimen and tissues in the fields of molecular and cellular biology and chemistry.
-Experience working with immunohistochemistry.
-Experience working with radioisotopes. Experience using data analysis software such as GraphPad.
-Substantial experience in writing, editing, and proofreading scientific grants and manuscripts.
-Expert level knowledge and skills in field of science related to research project.
-Preferable experience in cryosectioning and histology management.
